  • 26-Intro to funk styles

    4-Week Intro to Funk Styles Training Track

    A full introduction into two foundational funk styles: Campbellocking and Popping.

    Training Track (both styles): $295 + HST (save $25)
    Single Style: $160 + HST

    This Training Track is designed for dancers who want to explore funk styles in a structured but high-energy environment, build confidence in their movement, and experience both styles side by side.

    Across both programs, you’ll develop foundational groove, musicality, and texture while learning how each style connects to the roots of funk culture.

    Each class builds on the last so you can feel steady progression over the 4 weeks. Includes weekly recap videos to support your growth and an optional final filmed video!

    4-Week Intro to Campbellocking Program [See Harry’s Style]
    (SUN) JUN 21 - JUL 12 | 4 PM - 5:30 PM

    A beginner-friendly introduction to Campbellocking built from the ground up, focused on groove, confidence, and musicality. You’ll learn core techniques and 70s social party dances that shaped the style, while exploring its history to keep the movement authentic and grounded.

    4-Week Intro to Popping Program [See AJ’s Style]
    (SUN) JUN 21 - JUL 12 | 5:30 PM - 7 PM

    A beginner-friendly introduction to Popping and the starting point for anyone new to the style. You’ll learn foundational techniques, including the illusions and grooves that define Popping, while also exploring its history.

    GOOD TO KNOW

    These programs are open to beginners and dancers exploring funk styles for the first time. No prior experience required.

    This is a small-group training environment capped at 13 dancers, designed for focused learning and individual feedback.

Our progressive programs are designed to help you grow — step by step — in a consistent, focused environment. You'll train with the same instructor and group of dancers each week, allowing for deeper learning, personal feedback, and a strong sense of community.

Each week builds on the previous and ends in a final project — like a video or live performance. It’s a complete journey, not a one-off class.

With programs offered across levels and styles, there’s space for everyone to challenge themselves and level up!

STRUCTURED TRAINING FOR REAL GROWTH
Our progressive programs are designed to help you level up with intention. Each program is led by one instructor who’s invested in your development, offering personalized feedback and practical tools you can apply right away. Classes follow a steady format: warm-up, drills, and technique-building exercises, all leading into a combo that lets you put everything into practice, and is filmed on the final week. With a focused approach week after week, you'll build confidence, consistency, and real momentum in your dance journey.

EXPECTATIONS
Our progressive programs are designed to build week by week — so showing up consistently is key to getting the most out of your experience. We encourage you to come open, curious, and ready to learn. That said if you unexpectedly need to miss a class, we offer one make-up drop-in credit per program. E-mail hello@runtheflex.com at any point before or during your program to redeem it.
